Over the past 25 years, every state economy in the country has grown, but few have grown like Texas.

According to a new report from Texas 2036, Texas has overtaken its place from the nation’s third-largest state economy to the second-largest, gaining more ground on the national economy than any other state in the process.

The numbers tell the story. Texas GDP has grown 291% since 2000, nearly quadrupling in size. Texas has also increased its share of U.S. GDP by 2.2 percentage points, the largest gain of any state. Today, close to one out of every ten dollars generated in the U.S. economy comes from Texas. Among the nation’s 10 largest state economies, Texas posted the fastest growth rate over the 2000-2025 period, while states like Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York lost ground in national economic share.

This kind of sustained growth requires steady investment in the infrastructure, people, and systems that support it, and it shows up directly in demand for housing, industrial space, and commercial real estate across the state.

As Texas continues to grow, Connor Investment Real Estate is proud to support the development of the communities and housing needed to keep pace with that growth.
