Houston Business Journal – Houston’s housing market saw another record-breaking year in a row in 2018 in terms of both sales and total dollar volume, the Houston Association of Realtors reported.

Single-family home sales totaled 82,177 in 2018, up 3.8 percent from the previous record set in 2017, and sales of all property types hit 98,323, a 3.7 percent increase from 2017’s record volume. Total dollar volume skyrocketed 21.5 percent year over year to nearly $28.02 billion, another record.

For the full year, the average price for a single-family home was up 2.6 percent to $298,982, and the median price increased 3.3 percent to $237,500. Last month alone, both the average and median prices for single-family homes hit their highest levels for a December in Houston. The average jumped 4.7 percent year over year to $306,314, and the median rose 3.4 percent to $240,000.
